Did your granny have a button box? (Do you have a button box?)
Mine did. She kept them in an old round Cadbury’s chocolate tin (she used to work at Cadbury’s….mmmmmm nom nom) and as a child I loved sorting them out into colours and shapes, two holes and four holes, toggles and studs. Shirt buttons, cardigan buttons and buttons for jackets. She had them all.
I don’t know what happened to her button box, although I suspect my dastardly sister acquired them along the line……but today I have gotten a button box of my own. And what a selection!
Apparently the chappie who inherited these was on his way to the dump when my friend Sandra at the craft shop stopped him in his tracks and rescued them from oblivion. Sacrilege! I have now taken them on board, promising to care for them lovingly and responsibly. I have committed to sorting them into colours and shapes, two holes and four holes, toggles and studs.
Wonderful childhood memories from simple pleasures.
I love buttons.
Omg omg omg am weak!! Well done for rescuing them!
As soon as I saw them they were mine! 😀 😀
A lovely rescue of tiny treasures. Did you know that buttons on used by clothes manufacturers are not allowed to be sold separately?
