This afternoon I have spent a couple of hours with a friend (J) who lives round the corner from me and who usually provides me with wonderful reflexology treatment. Today however, sensing I am rather more troubled than usual we sat and talked. J is very easy to talk to and I soon found myself unburdening myself not in the manic, distressed way in which stuff usually tumbles out but in a very calm, intelligent and mutually understanding way.
This lady practises many forms of alternative healing and she has an amazing gift for calming the mind with her extensive knowledge and reassuring demeanour. I haven’t felt this calm when talking about my triggers for months.
Our last topics of conversation before I tore myself away were about crystal healing and colour therapy. With an open box of various crystals on the chair, I leant forward and immediately picked up the beautiful aquamarine polished crystal lying at the back. J laughed and when I asked why she told me that people are drawn to the stone that they need. I have no knowledge of crystal healing but amongst a boxful of beautiful, coloured crystals I was most definitely drawn to the aquamarine and the urge to hold it was intense.
When I got home I looked it up and this is what I found. Bearing in mind I am a Pisces that loves water it starts to make sense.
Aquamarine is a transparent form of Beryl and ranges in colour from blue to blue-green. Legend says that it is the treasure of mermaids and in ancient times sailors often carried Aquamarine to protect them against drowning.
Aquamarine is said to be the Stone of Courage and is believed to instil courage and fortitude and to counteract a victim mentality. Its energies are calming and it is thought to act to reduce stress and quieten the mind, thus clarifying perception, sharpening the intellect and removing confusion. It is a good stone for promoting creative self-expression and for removing blocks to communication. Aquamarine is also believed to give strength to deal with difficult situations and to allow you to stay focused under pressure.
I need all that and in abundance.
After Easter I am going back to see J for a crystal healing session. It will be interesting to see if I still need the aquamarine and if so what it can do to quieten this disturbed mind.
I’ll let you know.
