“You know something is not impossible once you’ve done it-so what’s stopping you?”
Being a fellow depression sufferer and keen sports person I have long been aware of the world beating cyclist Graeme Obree‘s struggle with his own mental health issues. You would have thought that being a successful sports person, enjoying challenges, being fit and physically healthy would somehow protect you from the evils of depression. It doesn’t.
It wasn’t until recently however that Graeme came out to admit his homosexuality and described the part that his inner struggle with this had on his mental health. I think Graeme is a great bloke and an example and positive role model for so many people and I was entranced by his interview with Colin Murray on BBC Radio 5 Live earlier today.
Colin Murray meets…..Graeme Obree
Well done Graeme and let’s hope that you inspire more of our sportsmen and women to be open and honest about their mental health problems and homosexuality.
It really should not be an issue.

Lovely post. Did you read my post about Graeme called The Hour of Lead. His book was also made into a film, and is quite something, too.
Derpression sucks!
Sure does L-but it can be conquered 🙂
